Jharkhand Assembly calls all-party meeting ahead of short budget session

An all-party meeting chaired by Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Ravindra Nath Mahato convened to address concerns and ensure a peaceful budget session scheduled to commence on February 23. The meeting focused on discussing various issues pertinent to the smooth conduct of the session, during which the government is slated to present its budget on February 27. Hopes are pinned on this session, envisaged to be beneficial for the populace by the Champai Soren-led government, with the Speaker urging all MLAs across party lines to facilitate its seamless operation.

However, the BJP has voiced its discontentment regarding the brevity of the budget session, with Leader of Opposition Amar Bawri decrying the six-day duration as inadequate, citing it as a disregard for the sentiments of the people of Jharkhand. As the last budget session under the UPA government and the maiden one under the Champai Soren administration, both the ruling and opposition factions are poised for robust deliberations, with the latter gearing up to raise concerns ranging from governance issues to allegations of corruption. The truncated schedule from February 27 to March 2 has sparked apprehensions about the efficacy of addressing public welfare schemes within such a short timeframe.
