Tensions flared in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly on the third day of the winter session as BJP MLAs Bhanu Pratap Shahi and Biranchi Narayan faced suspension and expulsion for causing disruptions. Speaker's orders also led to the expulsion of another BJP MLA, JP Patel. In response, the remaining BJP MLAs staged a walkout in protest, boycotting the House proceedings.
The commotion ensued as Shahi, Narayan, and Patel engaged in continuous disruptions, prompting the Speaker to order their removal from the House by marshals. Expressing his displeasure, the Speaker suspended Shahi and Narayan for the entire winter session. The BJP, in a show of solidarity, boycotted the House, leading the MLAs to gather in front of the statue of Atal Bihari Vajpayee within the assembly premises.
The ongoing trend of suspensions in legislative bodies across the country, evident in Parliament as well, highlights the heightened political tensions. Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Amar Kumar Bavari declared his intention to inform the Governor about the suspension of the two MLAs, expressing discontent over the Speaker's decision.
The suspended MLAs, Shahi and Narayan, affirmed their commitment to raising public issues, vowing to continue their advocacy despite being ousted from the House.
