The High Court has expressed strong displeasure with the investigation being conducted by the CID into the Staff Selection Commission Joint Graduate Level (JSSC CGL) exam paper leak case. During a crucial hearing on a petition demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe, the court's sharp remarks brought the government's handling of the case under intense scrutiny.
The court specifically criticized the affidavit filed by the CID. In a clear directive, the court stated that the CID’s Investigating Officer (IO) should present a proper investigation report before the court and not merely their personal opinion. This rebuke underscores the court's lack of confidence in the thoroughness of the current inquiry and its demand for a more professional and objective report.
In response to the court's dissatisfaction, the Advocate General, representing the state government, gave a major assurance. He informed the court that a decision would be taken to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising senior officials to conduct a fresh and comprehensive probe into the matter. This commitment is a significant shift from the previous investigation being handled by the CID.
Following the government's assurance, the High Court has postponed the hearing to a date after two weeks. This will give the authorities enough time to constitute the new SIT and allow the team to begin its investigation. The court's move signals a firm intent to ensure that the culprits behind the paper leak are brought to justice.
The hearing saw legal arguments from both sides of the case. Advocate Sanjoy Piperwal presented arguments on behalf of the JSSC, while senior advocate Ajit Kumar represented the applicants who had filed the petition, seeking a CBI investigation. The applicants have long been demanding a more transparent and unbiased probe into the scandal.
