The Jharkhand government on Tuesday presented a ₹1,58,560 crore budget for the financial year 2026–27, marking an increase of around 9 percent over the previous year. Presenting the budget in Ranchi, Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore outlined the state’s fiscal roadmap with an emphasis on growth, infrastructure and revenue mobilisation.
Revenue expenditure for 2026–27 has been pegged at ₹1,20,851.90 crore, reflecting a rise of 9.2 percent from last year. Capital expenditure has been proposed at ₹37,708.10 crore, an increase of 8.5 percent, indicating continued focus on asset creation and long-term development projects across the state. The budget’s funding framework projects ₹46,000 crore from the state’s own tax revenue and ₹20,700 crore from non-tax revenue. Central assistance is estimated at ₹18,273.66 crore, while the state’s share in central taxes is projected at ₹51,236.38 crore. Additionally, ₹22,049.96 crore is expected through public debt and ₹300 crore from recovery of loans and advances.
The fiscal deficit for 2026–27 has been estimated at ₹13,595.96 crore, which is 2.18 percent of the state’s estimated GSDP. The government noted that Jharkhand’s GSDP at current prices stood at about ₹5.16 lakh crore in 2024–25 and set an ambitious target to double the figure over the next five years, requiring growth of nearly 14 percent at current prices and around 9–10 percent at constant prices.
