Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
A shocking case has emerged from Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district, where a woman killed her husband after a domestic quarrel and buried his body inside their house for more than 10 days. The incident took place in Tilaiyatan village under Tundi police station limits.
Police identified the accused as 42-year-old Surji Majhiyain, who confessed to murdering her husband, 45-year-old Suresh Hansda. She allegedly struck him with a stick and a sickle before digging a pit inside their thatched mud house to hide the body.
The crime came to light after relatives grew suspicious when Hansda failed to attend his uncle’s funeral about 10 days ago. Neighbours also reported a foul smell from the house. On interrogation, Surji broke down and admitted to the murder, claiming she was fed up with her husband’s drinking habits and alleged affairs.
Authorities said the body would be exhumed in the presence of a magistrate and sent for post-mortem at Shahid Nirmal Mahato Medical College and Hospital in Dhanbad. Police are also working to recover the weapons used in the crime.
