Job-terminated SLST and RLST 2016 teachers launch Kalighat march demanding immediate reinstatement

Job-terminated teachers and non-teaching staff of SLST and RLST 2016 marched from Hazra More to Kalighat today demanding immediate reinstatement. Organised by the United Teaching and Non-Teaching Forum-2016, the protesters gathered at Hazra after travelling from their ongoing sit-in outside the SSC building in Salt Lake. Since last Thursday, they have been demonstrating in front of the SSC office demanding justice for what they claim are wrongful terminations despite legal appointments.

Following the call given by United Teaching and Non-Teaching Forum-2016, the protest march moved towards the Chief Minister’s residence at Kalighat. Protesters announced plans to submit a deputation at the Chief Minister’s office pressing their demands for reinstatement. Ahead of the march, job-terminated individuals had started assembling at Hazra More as per the scheduled plan.

The forum representatives stated that the agitation will continue until their demands are met. Protesters warned of intensifying movements if their reinstatement is delayed further. Meanwhile, security measures were tightened in Kalighat and surrounding areas in anticipation of the march.
