The Kolkata Police Special Task Force, in a joint operation with the Bihar Police, busted an illegal arms manufacturing factory in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district on Tuesday evening. The operation was carried out following specific intelligence inputs developed by the Kolkata Police STF.
According to STF Deputy Commissioner V. Solaiman Neshakumar, a joint team comprising Kolkata STF, Bihar STF and the Madhusudanpur Police Station raided a house in Rahmatbagh, Kabiripur under Bhagalpur district. Investigators found that an illegal homemade firearms unit was operating on the first floor of the building, while the ground floor was being used as a spinning mill to mask the operation. Five persons were arrested during the raid, including one co-owner and four skilled arms manufacturers. The accused have been identified as Monazir, Shadab Ali alias Saddam, Aslam alias Tinku, Samsher Alam alias Chhotu, and Shahnawaz. Police said the group had been manufacturing illegal firearms at the location for some time.
During the search, officers recovered a large cache of arms-making equipment and materials, including 20 semi-finished 7.65 mm country-made pistols, eight pistol barrels, a lathe machine, two milling machines, a drill machine, grinding and polishing equipment, and a hand grinder. Police suspect the weapons were being supplied to different areas. Further investigation is underway to trace the supply network and identify others linked to the racket.
