Justice Basu summons Charu Market OC over chili powder attack at Jogesh Chandra Law College

The Calcutta High Court is taking a strict stance on the incident at Jogesh Chandra Law College. The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Charu Market Police Station has been summoned. Justice Biswajit Basu called him in. On the other hand, TMC Youth leader Sabbir Ali's lawyer Partha Sarathi Barman claimed that his client has no connection with this incident and is being falsely accused.

In fact, on Wednesday, a group of students from Jogesh Chandra Law College alleged that outsiders had entered the campus and thrown paint and water on them. All of them are said to be close to Sabbir Ali. The matter then went to court. During the court hearing that day, Justice Biswajit Basu told Sabbir, "I don't think you were there. False accusations have been made against you. If you are a union leader, the responsibility falls on you. If the students involved in the incident belong to your student union, you cannot deny the incident. If any student feels unsafe, you cannot avoid responsibility."

The defendant student's lawyer, Ark Nag, said, "This is the third time Jogesh Chandra College has come to court regarding this issue. Outsiders have used chili powder, turmeric, and coriander powder instead of color. The media was assaulted. No FIR has been filed. However, the police were present at the scene." Justice Basu then asked, "What do they want?" Ark Nag replied, "It all started with Saraswati Puja. The court allowed two pujas. After that, the boys from Day College started causing trouble every day. The boys who are nearby are forming a syndicate. This is Sabbir's group." Justice Basu asked, "They have been in the college for eleven years. Are they now outsiders?" The plaintiff's lawyer said, "They have mafia connections. You can judge their behavior by watching this video." (A student's video was shown in the court thereafter.)

The lawyer for Jogesh Day College said, "We have hired private security." The Principal of Charu Market Police Station had written several letters, but there was no benefit. The video was shown to the governing body. "No action was taken." A lawyer for Jogesh Law College said, "We will have to hold classes elsewhere as our building is under renovation. I would like to give notice that students of any law college must stay inside the college after 11 AM."
