BJP targets Mamata over Jaynagar girl death; block road at CR Avenue
K Kavitha, the daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao and a leader of the BRS, was apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case linked to the Delhi liquor policy investigation. The arrest followed extensive raids at her Hyderabad residence, lasting five hours. Kavitha is expected to be transported to Delhi for further interrogation, as reported by news agencies. The move came shortly after ED and income tax officials conducted searches at her residence, prompting protests from BRS supporters.
This development marks the third high-profile arrest in the case, following Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh from the Aam Aadmi Party. The investigation also involves Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has evaded recent summons by the ED. The case revolves around allegations of a 'south cartel' operating in the Delhi liquor policy scam, with K Kavitha purportedly playing a significant role. The cartel allegedly received undue benefits and additional retail licenses under the now-defunct Delhi liquor policy.
