Tension rose in Murshidabad’s Nabagram area after Kartik Maharaj failed to appear at the local police station despite receiving an official notice. According to sources, Nabagram police went to Beldanga on Sunday and handed him a notice instructing him to report to the station by 10 a.m. As the deadline passed without his appearance, local unrest began to grow.
Following this, several women from Nabagram took to the streets, marching towards the police station with brooms in hand. The protestors demanded that action be taken against Kartik Maharaj. They shouted slogans and expressed anger over his non-compliance with the police order. The demonstration was marked by the absence of any political banners or affiliations.
The protesting women said, “We don’t want to do politics. We only want justice. Kartik Maharaj must be punished.” Police officials confirmed that Kartik Maharaj had not presented himself as required and stated that further action will follow according to procedure. The situation remained under control, and no reports of violence or detention were received from the protest site.
