Kasba man arrested for scamming americans by impersonating as PayPal representative

M Sanjay, a 39-year-old resident of Kasba's Naskarhat Deb Banerjee Road, used to call US citizens impersonating as a authorised representative of Paypal and scammed them. During questioning, he admitted joining a Telegram group that supplied victim contacts and tools to make international calls, revealing how organised these online scams have become.

Kolkata Police arrested Sanjay around today early morning at 4:40 AM and seized two mobile phones, one router, one laptop, and several screenshots showing proof of his cheating activities. The gadgets were used to connect with victims abroad and manage the fraud smoothly. This quick action stopped him from scamming more innocent people who often lose hard-earned savings to such clever tricks over the phone or internet.

A formal complaint has been filed at the Cyber Police Station to start an official case, and further probes may uncover links to bigger scam networks.
