Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
Several prominent personalities from diverse fields joined the Bharatiya Janata Party at the party’s state headquarters on Tuesday, in the presence of senior leaders. State President and Rajya Sabha MP Samik Bhattacharya, Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, former MP and General Secretary Locket Chatterjee, and MLA and Chief Whip Dr. Shankar Ghosh attended the induction programme.
Among those who took membership was Dipanjan Chakraborty, known for his active participation in various public movements, including the RG Kar case. It was stated that he had previously been associated with the National Security Guard and had also worked as an undercover agent. Party leaders welcomed him, describing his experience and activism as valuable additions.
‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 2025’ winner Biplab Biswas also joined the BJP. A retired Central Reserve Police Force officer at the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police, he is known for his role in operations against Maoist and terrorist insurgency. His induction was highlighted as a significant development at the event.
In addition, Kasturi Goswami, daughter of late former Left Front minister Kshiti Goswami and a practicing advocate, joined the party. Dr. Akshay Binjarajka, who has long been associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, also took membership. Senior leaders welcomed the new entrants, stating that their varied professional backgrounds would strengthen the organisation ahead of upcoming political challenges.
