Addressing the first Tourism Investors' Meet held last month, Riyas revealed heightened investor interest in beach tourism projects, signaling the government's intention to collaborate with private investors for comprehensive development.
He announced a master plan for 2024 to transform Varkala into a major entertainment and pilgrimage center, highlighting new initiatives such as the floating bridge as magnets for tourist attraction.
Kerala's Tourism Minister inaugurated the seventh floating bridge at Papanasam Beach, stressing its potential to boost beach tourism in the state. Minister Riyas revealed a master plan to develop Varkala as a major entertainment and pilgrimage center, set to be implemented in 2024, with an emphasis on public-private partnerships. The floating bridge, constructed with 1,400 high-density floating polyethylene blocks, spans 100 meters in length and three meters in width. Equipped with safety measures such as life jackets and lifeguards, it offers visitors a unique experience along the waves from 11 am to 5 pm.
