Kesari Chapter 2 teaser: Akshay Kumar takes on British Empire in Jallianwala Bagh legal battle

The much-anticipated teaser of Kesari Chapter 2, starring Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, and R Madhavan, was unveiled on Monday, offering audiences a glimpse into an untold chapter of India’s colonial past. The film, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, revolves around Sir C Sankaran Nair, a fearless lawyer who took on the British Empire in court following the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

The teaser sets a gripping tone from the outset, relying solely on sound effects rather than visuals. The piercing cries of victims, gunshots, and distressed voices fill the screen, immediately immersing viewers into the horrors of the 1919 massacre. The intense atmosphere is followed by the first glimpse of Akshay Kumar, who steps into the courtroom to confront British officials. A powerful moment unfolds when a British officer asserts, "You are still a slave to the Empire," only for Akshay Kumar’s character to silence him with two sharp words.

Sharing the teaser, Karan Johar wrote on social media, "When truth roared louder than the empire – a revolution painted in courage was born. Witness the untold story of Jallianwala Bagh." The teaser has sparked excitement, with fans lauding the film’s serious tone and Akshay Kumar’s intense portrayal.

Kesari Chapter 2 follows the 2019 hit film Kesari, which depicted the Battle of Saragarhi, where 21 Sikh soldiers fought 10,000 Pashtun invaders. While the first film focused on the valor of Indian soldiers in the British Army, the sequel shifts gears to legal resistance and the fight for justice. The film is backed by Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films, and Leo Media Collective.

Notably, director Karan Singh Tyagi dedicated over four years to the project, overcoming pandemic-related delays to bring the story to life. Producer Karan Johar recently praised Tyagi’s dedication, stating that his research and commitment were instrumental in shaping the film’s authenticity.

Set for release on April 18, 2025, Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh promises to deliver a hard-hitting cinematic experience, shedding light on one of India’s darkest historical events and the courtroom battle that followed.
