Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
Kolkata Knight Riders batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been penalised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during a controversy-marred match against Lucknow Super Giants. The 21-year-old has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee and handed one demerit point for a Level 1 offence following an on-field outburst after his dismissal.
The incident occurred during the fifth over of KKR’s innings when Raghuvanshi was adjudged out for obstructing the field. Visibly frustrated by the decision, he reacted aggressively by striking the boundary cushion with his bat and throwing his helmet towards the dugout. The actions were deemed a violation under Article 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which relates to abuse of equipment and ground fixtures.
Raghuvanshi admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by the match referee, bringing the disciplinary proceedings to a close. The dismissal itself followed a tense moment in play, where a throw from the fielding side struck the batter as he attempted to make his ground, leading to an appeal and eventual third umpire intervention.
Despite the heated atmosphere, no action was taken against the team’s support staff, even though there were animated exchanges on the sidelines following the decision. The match itself ended dramatically, with Kolkata Knight Riders securing victory in a Super Over, but the spotlight remained firmly on the young batter’s conduct during a high-pressure moment.
