Five arrested for attack on Bengal Minister Siddiqullah Chowdhury in Bardhaman
The KMC Engineers and Allied Services Association held a protest rally on Thursday in Kolkata, demanding payment of pending Dearness Allowance (DA), timely promotions for eligible engineers, and the creation of a dedicated health scheme for employees. The rally was led by the association's General Secretary, Manas Sinha, and included a ‘pen-down’ protest where engineers halted their official duties to raise these demands.
According to Manas Sinha, repeated appeals to the municipal administration have not yielded any response. He stated, "Despite multiple requests, the authorities have not addressed our demands." The association’s core demands include immediate release of DA arrears, implementation of a time-bound promotion policy, and formation of a comprehensive healthcare scheme for engineering staff. Sinha added that if the issues remain unresolved, the association will consider intensifying the protest.
