The monthly session of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) will be held on June 19 at 2:00 PM, Chairperson Mala Roy announced during a press conference at her office in the municipal headquarters on Thursday. The announcement comes after a dispute over the scheduling of the session and subsequent court proceedings related to the matter.
Mala Roy stated that the monthly session had originally been scheduled for May 22 but was not held as planned. According to her, there was an attempt to postpone the session, following which the matter was taken to court. She said the court had directed that the session could be conducted and added that copies of the court order would be sent to the concerned officials.
Addressing the issue, Roy said the session would now proceed on June 19 in accordance with the court’s direction. When asked about the matter, KMC Commissioner Smita Pandey stated that the issue remains sub judice and is currently pending before the court.
