A Kolkata Municipal Corporation employee was critically injured in a road accident near Raj Bhavan in central Kolkata on Friday after a collision involving a state-run bus and a motorcycle. The injured man was rescued from the spot and taken to SSKM Hospital in a police ambulance for treatment.
According to available information, a Route 26A state-run bus was travelling from Howrah towards Kamalgazi when the accident occurred. The incident took place as the bus was taking a left turn from Raj Bhavan towards the KC Das crossing in central Kolkata.
At the same time, a motorcycle reportedly attempted to overtake the bus from behind and proceed towards Red Road. During the manoeuvre, the rider allegedly lost control of the vehicle and came under the wheels of the bus. The motorcycle sustained extensive damage in the collision.
The injured individual, identified as an employee of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, suffered serious injuries to his right leg and was found bleeding at the scene. Police personnel arranged immediate transportation to the hospital and have begun examining the circumstances surrounding the accident. Officials are also attempting to establish contact with the injured man’s family, while his identity has not yet been officially disclosed.
