A Kolkata-Ahmedabad Indigo Airlines flight was forced to return shortly after takeoff on Wednesday due to a sudden runway closure at Ahmedabad airport. The Airbus A320 aircraft, operating as flight number 6E 318, had departed from stand number 53 of Kolkata airport at 1:49 PM with 179 passengers on board.
Midway through the journey, the flight crew was informed that Ahmedabad’s runway had been temporarily closed. Prioritizing passenger safety, the pilot decided to abort the journey and return to Kolkata. The flight landed safely at 2:52 PM and was stationed at stand number 105.
According to airline officials, all passengers are safe. Alternate arrangements are being made for their onward travel to Ahmedabad. No technical fault was reported on board the aircraft.
