Indian Army to test locally made 'shoot and scoot' gun, relocating in 85 seconds
A Greenline passenger bus travelling from Asansol-Durgapur to Kolkata crashed into the guardrail of Nivedita Setu on Monday, leaving around 10 to 12 passengers injured. The incident occurred when the bus reportedly lost control while crossing the bridge. The impact caused an elderly passenger to fall off the vehicle. The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Teams from Bally police station and Bally traffic police reached the spot shortly after the crash. Nivedita Setu staff assisted in rescue operations. Passengers trapped inside were safely evacuated and provided with first aid. Authorities arranged for an alternate vehicle to take the remaining passengers to their destination.
Traffic movement on the bridge was temporarily affected due to the crash but later resumed under police supervision. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be confirmed. No official statement has been issued on the mechanical condition of the bus or the driver's status.
