Kolkata Police's Cyber Crime Branch arrested five individuals in connection with an illegal scam call centre following midnight raids conducted on 5 August in the jurisdictions of Topsia and Bishnupur Police Stations. The operation was carried out by officers of OCCS, CCB under official orders, and is linked to Cyber Police Station Case No. 37/25 dated 27.06.2025, registered under Sections 66, 66C, 66D, 84B, 43 of the IT Act, 2000 and Sections 61(2), 319(2), 318(4), 336(2), 336(3), 338, 340(2) of the BNS, 2023.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Masoom Alam (33), Mahasin Alam (36), Immamuddin (32), SK Aman (24), and SK Rahul (22). Masoom Alam was arrested from his residence at 56, Topsia Road at around 2:25 AM on 6 August 2025. The remaining four were apprehended between 4:10 AM and 4:25 AM on the same day from Flat 2C, Ruby Tower-1, Gems City Complex, Bakrahat Road, P.O. Raspunja, under the jurisdiction of Bishnupur Police Station, Kolkata-104.
During the raid, officers recovered two mobile phones from Masoom Alam’s residence. From the Gems City Complex flat, police seized three mobile phones, two laptops, one WiFi router, and several incriminating documents. The arrests were made after observing all required legal formalities.
All five accused are scheduled to be produced before the Learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Calcutta, during court hours on 6 August 2025. Further investigation is underway to examine the materials recovered and determine the scale and operations of the scam.
