Kolkata lawyer attacked over parking dispute, alleges death and rape threats

A female lawyer was allegedly attacked on Thursday evening in the Charu Market area of South Kolkata following a dispute over illegal parking. According to her complaint, she was assaulted with a sharp weapon, verbally abused, and threatened with murder and rape after objecting to unauthorized vehicle parking near her chamber. The altercation occurred in a public space, and local residents reportedly witnessed the incident. Following the attack, she approached the police and filed a written complaint against multiple individuals.

The accused, however, have also submitted a counter-complaint, claiming they were the victims of the attack. According to their statement, the lawyer’s father, a promoter, has been involved in unauthorized construction projects in the locality. They alleged that when they protested against these activities, they were confronted and attacked by the lawyer and her associates. The claims from both sides remain under investigation, and no official confirmation has been made regarding the allegations.

The Charu Market police station has received complaints from both parties, and an investigation is underway. Officers are recording witness statements and examining any available CCTV footage to verify the sequence of events. The police have confirmed that the situation has been brought under control, and legal proceedings will be initiated based on the findings. No arrests have been made so far, and further action will depend on the evidence collected.
