Passengers of the Kolkata Metro’s Blue Line are facing fresh troubles after the train arrival time suddenly disappeared from display boards across stations. Now only the clock time is being shown, leaving commuters unable to guess when the next train will arrive.
On Thursday night, a metro scheduled to reach Chandni Chowk at 9:54 pm arrived at 10:20 pm, yet the board did not display any information about the delay. Since Friday, the same situation has continued on the Blue Line, which runs between Dakshineswar and Shaheed Khudiram.
The Blue Line has been struggling with multiple disruptions in recent weeks. With Kavi Subhash station closed, Shaheed Khudiram has been turned into a temporary terminal, but the limited infrastructure there means many trains are returning from Tollygunge instead. Passengers allege that almost every day services are hit by technical faults or signal failures.
While metro officials have not issued a formal statement, sources indicate the time display was removed to “reduce confusion” caused by frequent delays. However, commuters argue the move has only worsened matters, with one saying, “Earlier the train did not arrive on time, now the time itself has been removed.”
