Kolkata Police boosts security for Ram Navami: CCTV, body cameras, and tight vigil on procession routes

Ahead of Ram Navami on April 6, Kolkata Police has intensified security measures to ensure a peaceful procession. Lalbazar has directed all police stations to inspect CCTV cameras along the procession routes and report any malfunctions. If required, additional rented CCTV cameras will be installed in key locations to enhance surveillance.

To strengthen security, officers deployed during the processions have been instructed to wear body cameras for real-time monitoring and evidence collection. The entire event will be recorded, and sensitive areas are being mapped to ensure continuous surveillance. Police have also been asked to assess whether additional monitoring points are necessary along the routes.

Authorities have increased vigilance due to previous incidents of violence during Ram Navami processions in different parts of the state. Mayor Manoj Verma recently stated that multiple meetings have been held to review security arrangements. "All necessary precautions are being taken to maintain law and order," he said.

Lalbazar has issued strict directives to local police stations to submit updated security reports and ensure rapid response mechanisms are in place. Additional forces will be deployed in high-risk areas, and officers have been briefed on handling large gatherings. Coordination with intelligence agencies has also been strengthened to monitor any potential disruptions.

With multiple processions planned across the city, Kolkata Police has been placed on high alert. Security personnel will remain stationed at strategic locations, and emergency response teams will be on standby. Authorities have emphasized the need for strict crowd management and swift action against any disturbances to ensure a smooth and incident-free event.
