Kolkata Police has launched a Traffic Awareness Bus to promote road safety and educate the public about traffic rules. The bus is equipped with dummy traffic police personnel, traffic signals, road-crossing instructions, and other visual displays highlighting key traffic safety messages. The initiative mainly targets school students and daily commuters to enhance their understanding of road safety practices.
The program was inaugurated by Police Commissioner Manoj Verma, who flagged off the bus and explained that it is designed to motivate people to follow traffic rules and prevent accidents. He said, “Just as the Cyber Vehicle visits schools and societies to raise awareness on cyber safety, this Traffic Awareness Bus will encourage adherence to traffic regulations.”
The Traffic Awareness Bus will travel to schools, residential areas, and busy city routes to provide interactive demonstrations of road safety measures. This initiative builds on previous campaigns like ‘Save Drive, Save Life,’ aiming to make public awareness efforts more engaging and effective for both students and commuters.
