Allegations of surveillance in the Governor's work have prompted the Raj Bhavan to implement significant security changes. Although no official statement has been released, however, no security personnel from the Kolkata Police will be stationed on the second floor of the Raj Bhavan.
The first floor of the Raj Bhavan houses the Governor's office and secretariat, and sources within the Raj Bhavan have stated that Kolkata Police personnel will no longer be involved in security operations on this floor. Instead, the responsibility for security on the first floor will be transferred to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) or other Central Forces, while the Kolkata Police will continue to handle security matters on the ground floor. The directive came into effect in the Raj Bhavan from Thursday.
Raj Bhavan authorities have sought information from the Kolkata Police regarding the presence of any constables or security guards on the first floor of the Raj Bhavan but have not received a response as of now.
