A more than 150-year-old arch collapsed around 7:30 am on Debendra Ghosh Road in Bhowanipore, Kolkata, triggering panic among residents during peak morning hours. The structure gave way suddenly, sending debris crashing onto the road in a densely populated area where nearly 700 to 800 people reside. Despite the timing, no casualties or injuries have been reported, and a major accident was narrowly avoided.
On receiving information, the Disaster Management Team of Kolkata Police along with workers from the Kolkata Municipal Corporation reached the spot and began clearing the debris. Authorities are continuing removal operations to restore normal movement in the area.
