Kolkata has solidified its position as one of India's wealthiest cities, ranking sixth in the 2024 Hurun India Rich List with 69 billionaires residing in the city.

India's financial hub, Mumbai, has made headlines by surpassing Beijing to become the "Billionaire Capital of Asia," with an impressive 386 billionaires—an increase of 58 from the previous year. This monumental rise in wealth concentration has positioned Mumbai at the top, home to 25% of the billionaires on the list.

Kolkata are featured in the Hurun India Rich List 2024. Some of the notable names include:

1. Benu Gopal Bangur - Chairman of Shree Cement, with significant wealth derived from the cement industry.
2. Sanjiv Goenka - Chairman of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, with interests in power, retail, and media.
3. Ravi Modi - Founder of Vedant Fashions (Manyavar), known for his success in the wedding and ethnic wear market.

4. Harsh Goenka - Part of the Goenka family, associated with the RPG Group, which has interests in sectors like infrastructure, tires, and IT.

5. Radhe Shyam Goenka and Radhe Shyam Agarwal - Founders of the Emami Group, a conglomerate with a presence in FMCG, healthcare, and real estate.

6. Chandra Shekhar Ghosh - Founder and CEO of Bandhan Bank, a leading private bank in India that originated in Kolkata.
