In a recent update from the Meteorological Department on Tuesday, Bengal is experiencing a severe cold spell with temperatures steadily decreasing across the state. The state capital, Kolkata, has recorded a minimum temperature of 15.7 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees below the normal range, while the maximum temperature reached 24.7 degrees Celsius.
This drop in temperature is not confined to the metropolitan area, as other districts such as Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Purulia, and Bankura are witnessing temperatures ranging between 10 to 12 degrees Celsius, leading to an increase in cold conditions.
Meanwhile, the cold wave is even more intense in the northern regions of Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, and Kalimpong, where temperatures have reached extremely low levels. The Meteorological Department predicts a continuation of the cold weather across the state, with no possibility of rain until the next week.
