In a deeply disturbing case from Kolkata, a private tutor has been arrested for allegedly raping a mentally unstable young woman in the Jora Mandir area under the jurisdiction of Baguiati police station. The incident has triggered outrage in the locality, with residents demanding strict action.
According to police sources, the accused and the victim, who is in her twenties, knew each other. On Tuesday, the tutor allegedly lured the woman to his house by tempting her with food. Once she arrived, he took her to an empty house and sexually assaulted her.
The young woman returned home after the alleged assault. Her family members, especially her elder sister, noticed abnormal behavior and signs of distress. When questioned, the woman reportedly narrated the entire incident to her sister, who then informed their father.
The family immediately filed a written complaint at the Baguiati police station. Acting on the complaint, the police arrested the tutor. A case has been registered under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code related to rape and exploitation of a mentally unstable person.
The accused was taken into custody and is expected to be produced before the Barasat court on Thursday. Police officials have stated that they will be seeking custodial interrogation to gather further evidence and statements related to the crime.
This incident has once again raised questions about the safety of vulnerable individuals in the community and the importance of background verification and trust in professional relationships, especially involving private tutors.
