A 24-year-old youth, Akash Chaudhary, was brutally murdered near the gate of Jayashree Chemicals Factory on Nanda Bose Road in Khardaha’s Ward No. 13. According to police sources, the attack took place following a dispute linked to a football match on December 31, 2024. Akash, a resident of Titagarh’s Ward No. 13, was allegedly called out of his house by three individuals—Pawan Rajbhar, Kanai Tiyari, and Raj Tiyari—on the pretense of mischief. The trio reportedly assaulted him with sharp weapons, inflicting severe injuries on his neck and abdomen. Akash was first taken to Balram Hospital before being shifted to RG Kar Medical College, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Khardaha Police arrested Pawan Rajbhar on Friday afternoon, while Kanai Tiyari and Raj Tiyari remain absconding. The victim’s elder brother has alleged that all three were involved in the murder. Law enforcement officials have intensified search operations to locate the fugitives. Preliminary investigations suggest that the conflict stemmed from the December 31 football match, though officials are also examining other possible motives. No official statement has been released regarding additional suspects or involvement of other individuals.
Security has been tightened in the area following the incident. Local residents reportedly informed police about the altercation, leading to the swift arrest of one accused. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage and gathering witness statements to build a detailed timeline of events. Further investigation is underway, and police have urged the public to report any information regarding the whereabouts of the absconding accused.
