Kunal Ghosh arrives at Bhabani Bhawan for CID questioning

Senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and Beleghata MLA Kunal Ghosh arrived at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters at Bhabani Bhawan in Kolkata on Sunday afternoon. His appearance follows a formal summons issued by the state's premier investigative agency regarding the ongoing and highly controversial signature forgery case. Ghosh’s arrival occurred while TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was already inside the building, undergoing his second intense round of questioning by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

Before entering the CID facility, Ghosh had earlier emphasized that the investigators have summoned him strictly in the capacity of a witness to help untangle the timeline of the alleged administrative discrepancies. "I have always cooperated, and in this case, I will also cooperate."

The complex investigation centers on serious allegations of manipulation regarding an official party resolution book dated May 6. The document, which was formally submitted to the West Bengal Assembly Secretariat to appoint senior leader Sovandeb Chattopadhyay as the Leader of the Opposition, purportedly carried the signatures of 70 TMC legislators. However, a political storm erupted after two dissenting MLAs alleged that no such formal legislative meeting took place on that date, claiming instead that up to 14 of the legislative signatures on the attendance register were outright fabrications penned in block letters.
