No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
A 22-year-old woman identified as Lady Dharmendra climbed a 132 KV high-tension electric tower on Marine Drive in Jamshedpur’s Sonari area on Tuesday after her boyfriend allegedly refused reconciliation. The incident drew a large crowd as the woman threatened to end her life if her demands were not met.
Sonari police station in-charge Kumar Anand said that by the time police reached the site, she had already climbed nearly 100 feet. Despite repeated pleas from locals and officials, the woman initially refused to come down. A rescue team arrived with safety equipment and attempted to bring her down from the tower.
According to police, the Tata Steel rescue team climbed up and managed to persuade her, bringing her down safely. The woman fainted after the rescue but regained consciousness shortly after. She was then placed under medical observation.
