The results for the Mizoram Assembly Elections 2023 have been declared, revealing a resounding victory for the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM), which is poised to form the government in the state with an overwhelming majority. The ZPM secured 27 seats, while the Mizo National Front (MNF) managed to secure 10 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 2 seats, and the Indian National Congress secured only 1 seat.
In a significant development, ZPM leader Lalthansanga emerged victorious in a high-stakes battle against Mizoram Chief Minister and MNF Chief Zoramthanga from Aizawl East-I, securing a lead of 2,101 votes. The Mizoram Assembly Elections witnessed a keenly contested battle between ZPM and MNF.
The election results in Mizoram come after recent political shifts in other parts of the country, with the BJP making significant gains in the Hindi heartlands- Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh while the Congress securing victories in Telangana.
