Late-night explosion in Bhangar injures several people, ISF blames TMC

Tensions escalated sharply in Bhangar ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections after a powerful explosion rocked the Chaltaberia area late Wednesday night, leaving several people injured and triggering panic among residents. The blast, reported around 11 PM, was heard across nearby localities, intensifying concerns in a region already known for its politically sensitive environment.

The Indian Secular Front (ISF) launched strong allegations against the ruling All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), accusing local leader Ahidul Molla of orchestrating the stockpiling of explosives with the help of outsiders. ISF leader Abul Khair Molla claimed that the explosion occurred while these materials were being handled, and alleged that he was attacked when he attempted to investigate the source of the blast.

The situation further intensified after an ISF recruit was reportedly injured in the incident, prompting the party to demand immediate police action and arrests. ISF leaders have accused the TMC of attempting to intimidate opposition workers and voters ahead of the crucial electoral contest between Saokat Molla and Nawsad Siddique.

With allegations and counter-allegations mounting, fear has gripped local residents, who remain wary of further violence in the run-up to the polls. The explosion has once again highlighted the volatile nature of electoral politics in the region, raising concerns over law and order in the days leading to voting.
