Lawrence Bishnoi aide Mahfooz arrested after 7 years in Disha Patani house firing case

In a major breakthrough in the firing incident outside actor Disha Patani’s residence, Delhi Police have arrested alleged gangster Mahfooz, also known as Bobby Kabootar, after nearly seven years on the run. He was apprehended by the Special Cell’s Counter-Intelligence team near the Delhi–Gurugram border during a coordinated operation, bringing an end to a prolonged manhunt.

Investigators allege that Mahfooz supplied weapons to the shooters involved in the attack outside Patani’s house in Bareilly. The firearms are suspected to have been sourced from abroad. Authorities are now questioning him to ascertain on whose instructions the weapons were arranged and whether the incident was part of a broader criminal conspiracy.

Mahfooz is described by police as a close aide of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and is considered a key operative in organised crime networks based in North East Delhi. Over the years, his name has surfaced in multiple serious criminal cases, drawing the attention of central and state law enforcement agencies.

He was also wanted under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), underscoring the gravity of the allegations against him. Among the charges levelled against him is alleged involvement in the murder of the Nadeem Brothers, where police claim he fired the maximum number of shots.

The Disha Patani residence firing case had earlier seen dramatic developments, with two alleged shooters — Ravindra alias Kallu and Arun — killed in a police encounter near Ghaziabad’s Tronica City. They were believed to be associated with the Rohit Godara–Goldy Brar gang. Three other accused had been arrested earlier, as investigations into the larger network continue.
