LIC settles 1.7 crore claim of Pahalgam victim Sameer within 36 hours

Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) has swiftly provided financial relief to the family of Sameer Guha, who tragically lost his life in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. The Sarshuna branch of LIC handed over a death claim cheque of ₹1.7 crore to Sharvari Guha, Sameer’s wife, in a remarkable turnaround of just 36 hours. This act has not only brought financial support but also showcased the strong trust people have in LIC’s commitment during times of crisis.

Sameer Guha, a resident of Shokher Bazar in Behala, had taken out life insurance with LIC’s KMDO-II branch. He was tragically shot dead by Pakistani militants in Pahalgam on Tuesday afternoon. The family, still reeling from the shock, only learned of his death on Wednesday morning. While the Guha family was still grappling with the immense grief, LIC acted swiftly to complete all the necessary paperwork, transferring the insurance claim without any delays, a process typically known to take longer.

LIC Senior Development Officer Debashis Bagh, along with the branch staff, handed over the cheque to Sharvari Devi on Friday. The efficiency and sensitivity shown by LIC’s team has been widely praised, with many recognizing the company's quick response as an example of both professionalism and humanity. In an emotional gesture, the LIC officials ensured that the insurance claim was processed transparently, delivering financial aid in a time of immense sorrow.
