Ten individuals tragically lost their lives in Bihar due to lightning strikes within the past 24 hours, as confirmed by officials on Thursday. The incidents occurred across multiple districts, with Rohtas, Siwan, Kaimur, West Champaran, Supaul, Munger, and Banka recording fatalities.
Among the victims, Ram Pravesh Singh, a 55-year-old farmer in Rohtas, and a young woman in Natwar block were killed instantly while seeking shelter from the storm. In Siwan, casualties included a five-year-old girl struck while collecting mangoes and a laborer from West Bengal fatally injured while planting paddy. Similar incidents were reported in Kaimur, West Champaran, Supaul, Munger, and Banka districts, highlighting the widespread impact of the lightning strikes.
Authorities have initiated post-mortem examinations and are providing medical treatment to the injured. The state government has pledged a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the families of the deceased, adhering to established norms.
