Local laborers protest outside Digha Jagannath temple against hiring of outsider workers

Local residents in Digha protested loudly outside the Jagannath Temple premises on Thursday morning, demanding priority employment for local laborers in the ongoing temple construction and related works.

The protesters alleged that contractors are hiring workers from outside the area, causing local workers to lose job opportunities. The protest gathered significant numbers, disrupting normal activities at the temple, which attracts a large number of visitors daily.

Due to escalating tensions and crowding, law enforcement deployed a heavy police presence at the site to maintain order and prevent any violence. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely. Protesters insist that local laborers should be given preference in all temple construction work. The issue has caused increased unrest in the area during a busy pilgrimage season.
