Locals find 17 crude bombs while fishing in Baruipur pond

Bombs were recovered in broad daylight from a pond in a neighboring area of Baruipur. Not just one or two, but a total of 17. This incident has created widespread tension in the Dighi area under the jurisdiction of Jibantala police station in South 24 Parganas.

Local residents had been fishing in the pond since the morning. It was a resident who first spotted the bombs after the water was drained. Panic spread throughout the area. The news quickly reached the police. Officers from Jibantala police station arrived and recovered the bombs.

There is uncertainty regarding how the bombs ended up in the pond. Based on their condition, the police's preliminary investigation suggests that they were thrown into the pond several days ago. The fuses of each bomb had decayed, and the explosive materials inside had deteriorated. This indicates that the bombs had been there for a considerable period.

However, it remains unclear who left them there. The police are investigating the matter and questioning local residents. They are also probing whether there is any political connection behind this incident. The police have already recovered the bombs and safely defused them.
