Two women were burnt to death and another injured when an LPG cylinder caught fire during wedding preparations here, police said on Sunday.
The incident took place in Sikandra area of this region of Uttar Pradesh. Mayank Tiwari, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Hariparwat, Agra said, "A gas cylinder caught fire in KK Nagar locality under Sikandra Police Station limits in Agra due to which two women were burnt to death."
The fire occurred as a result of the cylinder pin coming loose, he added. The person injured in the incident is being treated at a hospital in Agra.
The deceased have been identified as Leela and Sheela and are residents of Nagla Budi in Agra, the ACP said. ACP Tiwari added that the bodies of the victims have been sent to the mortuary and legal action will be taken after further investigation into the matter.
