State approved this project last year to celebrate the legacy of Shankaracharya in uniting India through the Advaita Vedanta philosophy
In a grand ceremony, Madhya Pradesh's Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan unveiled the awe-inspiring 'Ekatmata Ki Pratima' or 'Statue of Oneness' dedicated to the revered philosopher and saint, Adi Shankaracharya, in the picturesque town of Omkareshwar.
The towering 108-foot-tall monument, located on the Mandhata mountain overlooking the Narmada River, serves as a testament to the life and philosophy of the 8th-century Hindu sage. This ambitious project, approved by the state cabinet last year, aims to celebrate the legacy of Adi Shankaracharya, who played a pivotal role in unifying India through his Advaita Vedanta philosophy.
During the inauguration, CM Chouhan expressed his deep reverence for Adi Shankaracharya's teachings, emphasizing the profound impact of his spiritual wisdom. He remarked, "There is auspiciousness and auspiciousness only in the feet of Acharya Shankar, animated with spiritual energy. The sun of welfare for the entire world lies in the auspicious thoughts of Advaita."
Omkareshwar, known for its scenic beauty and spiritual significance, is situated approximately 80 kilometers from the bustling city of Indore.
Chouhan further anticipated that future generations would flock to this unique monument to immerse themselves in the timeless teachings and immense contributions of Shankaracharya ji, thus preserving his legacy for ages to come.
