NCP leader Baba Siddique shot multiple times and dies in Mumbai Hospital
The Madurai bench of the Madras High Court on Monday ordered the Tamil Nadu government's Hindu Religion and Endowments (HR&CE) department to restore a banner reading, "Only Hindus allowed" inside the Palani Dhandayudhapani Swamy temple.
Passing orders on a PIL filed by a Hindu activist, the court observed that it would create unnecessary controversy and immediately ordered that the bulletin board remain at the same location.
The controversy broke out a few days ago when a Muslim family wanted to visit the temple. After seeing the Muslim women in the family wearing burkinis, the temple staff allegedly tried to get tickets issued to them to go to Dharashan.
After that, the Muslim family argued with the temple staff and a few minutes later the banner that was placed at the entrance saying that only Hindus are allowed was removed. Knowing this, several pro-Hindu organizations reached the Palani temple administration office and argued with them, demanding that the banner be re-posted.
