In the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra, voter turnout across 13 constituencies reached an average of 38.77% by 3 PM. Despite recording the lowest voting percentage among the six states polling till 1 PM, Maharashtra witnessed a surge in voting as the afternoon progressed. Notably, Mumbai also showed improvement in voter participation, with the Mumbai South seat registering close to 37% turnout by 3 PM. Voting commenced at 7:00 AM amidst scorching heat and complaints of inadequate facilities at several polling booths.
Amidst lower turnout in 13 constituencies, including 6 in Mumbai, concerns over voter engagement and logistical challenges persist. The ongoing election in Maharashtra includes crucial seats such as Dhule, Dindori, Nashik, Kalyan, Palghar, Bhiwandi, and Thane, alongside the 6 Mumbai seats. With Maharashtra boasting 48 Lok Sabha seats, the state's electoral significance remains paramount in shaping the national political landscape. The 2024 Lok Sabha elections, spanning seven phases, commenced on April 19 and will conclude on June 1, with results announced on June 4.
