Mahua Moitra asked to 'immediately vacate' government bungalow

TMC leader Mahua Moitra has been instructed by the Directorate of Estates to immediately vacate the government-allotted bungalow, previously assigned to her as a MP. Following her expulsion from the Lok Sabha in December over the cash-for-query scandal, the Directorate of Estates issued an eviction notice, directing Moitra to vacate the plush property. The Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry source confirmed that a team from the department will be sent to ensure that the property is "vacated at the earliest".

Moitra faced expulsion from the Lok Sabha on December 8, accused of sharing her parliamentary login credentials with businessman Darshan Hiranandani, as alleged by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey. Despite Moitra's denial of accepting bribes and claiming to share credentials for query assistance, the Directorate of Estates issued two eviction notices this month.

Moitra had approached the Delhi High Court, seeking permission to retain the government accommodation allotted to her, and on January 4, the court directed her to approach the Directorate of Estates for resolution, allowing authorities to decide on her case considering the established rules.
