Mahua Moitra faces 'TMC chor and Jai Shri Ram' slogans inside flight | Watch

Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra on Thursday alleged that she was harassed onboard a Delhi-bound flight after a group of passengers raised slogans targeting the party and filmed her inside the aircraft. Videos of the incident surfaced on social media amid heightened political tensions following the BJP’s victory in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections. Passengers were heard shouting slogans such as “chor chor, TMC chor” and “Jai Shri Ram” while Moitra was present inside the plane.

In a statement posted on social media, Moitra said she was travelling to Delhi to attend a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence. She alleged that a group of four to six men boarded the flight together and later began shouting slogans after the aircraft landed and before the doors opened. According to Moitra, the men also recorded videos during the incident. She stated that she was seated in the front row of the aircraft at the time.

Moitra described the incident as harassment and said it compromised her safety onboard the aircraft. She stated that the behaviour of the passengers could not be described as ordinary public anger and alleged that the incident amounted to intimidation inside a flight. She also called for action against those involved and urged the airline authorities to examine the crew report and identify the passengers.

The incident occurred amid an intensified political atmosphere in West Bengal following the Assembly election results, in which the BJP secured a decisive victory over the Trinamool Congress. Political tensions in the state have further escalated after the killing of Chandranath Rath, personal assistant to BJP leader and Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, in Madhyamgram earlier this week.

There was no immediate official response from the airline or the civil aviation authorities regarding the incident at the time of reporting. The exact route and timing of the flight were not independently confirmed. Moitra has continued to demand action against those allegedly involved in the slogan shouting and filming inside the aircraft.
