Kasba Gangrape: Court sends all 3 accused to 7-day police custody
Days after the rape incident inside South Kolkata Law College, the college’s governing body convened a key meeting on Tuesday to address the situation. The college announced the termination of temporary staff member Manojit Mishra’s appointment. Mishra had been working in a non-permanent capacity, and his service has now been officially cancelled. In addition, two students — Pramit Mukherjee and Zaib Ahmed — who were arrested in connection with the incident, have been expelled from the institution.
The college administration stated that Pramit Mukherjee and Zaib Ahmed will not be allowed to return and made it clear that such individuals have no place on campus. The meeting also focused on implementing security measures to avoid any recurrence. The administration decided to increase the number of CCTV cameras and deploy more female security personnel across the premises to enhance student safety, especially for female students.
While academic classes remain suspended, the college office will remain operational in view of the upcoming examinations. The administration stated that there will be no compromise in matters concerning safety and discipline within the institution. The decisions taken in the meeting are aimed at restoring normal functioning of the college with immediate administrative reforms.
