Roopa Ganguly arrested during protest of student's death in Bansdroni, gets bail
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has uncovered a large financial scam at the state-run R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital. The agency found evidence of medical equipment being billed to the hospital without any actual purchases.
Documents obtained by the CBI show that forged bills were issued in the names of suppliers Biplab Sinha and Suman Hazra, both close associates of the hospital's former principal, Sandip Ghosh. All three are currently in CBI custody.
Investigators also found that expensive medical accessories were marked as "new purchases" when they were merely repaired, leading to misuse of state government funds. In a parallel investigation, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is probing disproportionate assets linked to Ghosh and others. The ED conducted raids at multiple locations, including Ghosh's residence, on Friday.
