Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Paschim Medinipur witnessed a major administrative shake-up in its police setup on Friday as Superintendent of Police Palash Dhali ordered the transfer of 41 sub-inspector rank officers with immediate effect. The move comes amid preparations ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections and aims to strengthen law and order across the district.
An official order, District Order No. 46, was issued from the SP’s office, stating that the transfers were carried out in public interest and due to administrative requirements. The order mandates that all transferred officers must hand over their existing responsibilities and assume charge at their new postings by January 15, 2026.
Several key police stations have seen changes in charge, reflecting a broader effort to reorganize policing at the grassroots level. Officials believe the reshuffle is intended to bring operational flexibility and reinforce security arrangements in sensitive areas ahead of the electoral process.
The responsibility of implementing the order has been assigned to additional superintendents of police and sub-divisional police officers. Fresh postings at police stations including Keshpur, Debra, Garbeta and Kharagpur Town are expected to recalibrate the district’s security framework in the coming weeks.
