Malda Police arrested two suspects within 24 hours for attacking Sabitri Mitra’s car driver, Anup Saha, with a sharp weapon. The incident took place late Friday night near Narayanpur BSF Camp in Old Malda when Saha was returning home from a wedding. He noticed an unidentified youth covering his face and questioned him, following which an accomplice allegedly attacked him from behind. Severely injured, Saha was rushed to Malpur Sub-Health Center for treatment, while a written complaint was lodged at Malda Police Station.
Following the complaint, Malda Police launched an investigation and acted on a tip-off from a confidential source. Within a day, officers tracked down and arrested two suspects from the Malda police station area. The arrested individuals were presented before the district court at around 1 PM on Sunday. Officials confirmed that further investigation is ongoing to determine if additional individuals were involved in the attack.
The attack has raised safety concerns in the area, prompting police to increase patrols and security measures. Authorities are examining possible motives behind the incident while collecting further evidence. The condition of Anup Saha remains under medical supervision.
